I've got lots of feature work booked and wasn't going to do another short at this time, but how could I turn down an opportunity to do an action short shot in Uganda? AJ and Ken were in Kampala for a photojournalism assignment and took advantage of it to do a short film for dvxuser's Fiction Fest. I got to bring back a lot of my skills from my days as a full time world fusion musician, blended with contemporary action techniques. The score begins with (semi)authentic African drumming that morphs into action music with electric guitars, orchestra, and western percussion, then it gives way to electronics and harmonic chant, a vocal style I studied briefly with founder David Hykes. The conclusion (not shown here) adds a slow groove & moody guitars. This was definitely a great quick project to stretch my muscles in a variety of styles in a quick time. The film went on to win second place at Fiction Fest.
